requirement of working visa

I am in a process of transferring from my singapore office to HK new office and applying for working visa in HK.

Just before my submission I have some questions to ask:

1)my package is just HKd$10k/m will it affect the approval of working visa?

2)my HR told me they have not yet approved the housing allowance, but my knowledge it is very important criteria in the application so can anyone help to provide the links that stating about the accomodation is a criteria in the visa application? so that i can pressure my HR for that.

3) I will be in china during the application so can I come into HK to meet my client to discuss business during these period? And where should I submitt my application? in China or HK ?

will appreciate for you guys professional advice...thanks in advance

1) It's really quite a low salary - the key thing that you need to be able to show to HK Immigration is that there is something about the role that means you cannot find a HK local to do it. The lower the salary the harder this is, in general.

2) I don't think the housing/salary split is that important, but the total package is what ImmD will look at, so if you are being paid HK$10K+HK$10K housing then they will view that as HK$20K I believe. If the HK$10K is including the housing then someone is pulling a fast one - very few jobs at that level are worth shifting someone from Singapore for, and moreover, as a graduate with experience you would expect to get more salary than that. (And if you are not a graduate it will be doubly hard for you to get the work permit.)

3) Yes you can, and you should apply either in HK or in Singapore (assuming that is your current residence), not in China.

thanks for the reply.

I am holding a marketing and management degree and has been working for 2 years 9 months...2 years is in southern china and 9 months is in Singapore.(in similar field)

The job require me to represent my company from singapore in HK to deal with client and supplier. I need to travel and report to singapore frequently.

Also require writing and speaking in mandarin(simplified and traditional), Cantonese and English.

Occassionally it need to deal with our Indonesia and malaysia offices which speaking bahasa indonesia and bahasa malaysia.( I can speak and read)

I hope those few points mentioned above are good enough to get me approved.

As for the housing, I still trying hard to get it....any suggestion on how should I propose to my HR? they are like trying to earn credit by saving chicken feed for boss....so unless its a neccessary if not I will spend big time to get the allowance....

I would say that $10K /month is a pretty low salary for the role you describe, particularly if you have responsibility for buying and/or selling negotiations or decisions. You could get some ideas of salaries by looking at, for example, http://www.jobsdb.com

Tried that before..not really working for me as some unpleasant interview experiences happened due a few cases that the HR of the local HK firms does not want to do the extra job.

In few cases I spent one day off, travelled all the way to the company and the HR of that company told me that they didnt plan to employ foreigner but I stated very Clear on my CV that I hold singapore residency. end up wasted my time and money.

Another case is the head of the department agreed to offer me a job. but their HR said very trouble to apply work permitt so rejected the offer. That job is very particular in SAP and production control in electronic field. They have been advertised for 6 mths by the time I go for interview so shouldnt have big problem for visa..but the HR just too lazy to do work.

The worst Case is the person who interview me tell me to go back to singapore and work during interview, she said with my qualifications I shouldnt have problem to get a job in Spore so noneed to come to HK.....I feel very insulted because she can decide not to offer me a job but not to comment on what I need to do.

I feel better to work with foreigner's company instead of HK firms so I choosen my current job.

I wasn't suggesting you apply for the jobs, I was suggesting that you used the salaries advertised there as evidence to support your argument with HR for more money.
