There's a very small electronics shop in one of the alleyways in Central. Think it might be near the China Club / Fortress one. Don't know if they sell LEDs but it could be worth a shot.

There is a specialist store much like Maplin and if I remember correctly it occupies two floors on Ap Lui Street. The ground floor sells larger items that bear no resemblance to the items upstairs. There you will find everything you need to build your disco lights.

If you have time try the Saige computer shopping arcade in Shenzhen. It has 2 floors packed with LEDs and every single other electronic component you can possibly think of.

If you don't feel like going to Ap Liu Street or Shenzhen, you will also find what you need in the Hung Kwong Building (鴻光大廈), number 2A Tung Choi Street Mong Kok (aka Ladies Street). From Dundas Street walk down the right side of Tung Choi street (behind the stalls) until you come to a shop selling hordes of gaudy dresses and a building entrance leading to a set of stairs. Go up the stairs.

If Kwun Tong is more convienient you could try YickTai(益泰) in the Lladro Centre. Take the stairs up from street level across from the fire station on Hoi Yuen road .
