Before anyone says Habibi .. the last GeoExpat dinner there was a bit of a gastronomical misadventure. Avoid it. I think the women are just too shy and polite to admit it in public that the food was errr ...

Olive has good middle eastern food -- on the top to middle end (average about $200 / person).

Erm...maybe the best in Wanchai but I woudln't go any further than that!

The Arab/Lebanese/Middle Eastern food here is a sham of a mockery. Having lived in the Middle East for many moons I think I could safely say that any self respecting Arab would be disgusted at the quality and stingy portions you get here at such a high price. When we first got here we took a group of friends to habibi's as they all wanted to try the food we were missing. I was embarrassed at what we were given and we all ended up going to Pepperoni's afterwards to fillup- even after paying several hundred dollars each for the food.

To answer the initial question- I would advise you go to the supermarket and buy the raw ingredients of hommous and make it yourself- you will get change from a 20 dollar bill and have enough to sink a canoe.

Not sure about the best in Hong Kong- as I'm a vegetarian I genarally don't eat them. There was a kebab place in Central that everyone raved about wasn't there? I think it's closed now though.

I was mainly referring to kebabs/schawarmas in places like Dubai where they are really fresh and cheap as oppposed to Ebeneezer's which are pretty run of the mill seing as you're paying around 40 dollars for it. I did see in City Super that you can buy frozen microwave kebabs- I don't think they'll be the best in Hong Kong!
