scaffolding outside window got a note from mgt today saying there'll be scaffolding outside my kitchen window effective tomorrow for almost a month. wtf? can they do this? obviously it'll mean noise, dirt, and a bunch of morons peering into my apt. aren't they supposed to give more of a notice? and it doesn't even state why they need to put up scaffolding. who can i approach with this except the police? thanks!

If you're a tenant then approach the landlord.

While inconvenient, i would suggest they can do it. These buildings need maintenance For the first 3 months I lived in Hong Kong there was outside work being done on the building. They tended to be good about working during reasonable hours, etc. I am sure that management can explain the whys though.

Agreed. As much as we appreciate your need to parade around your kitchen stark b*****k naked the owners would not be employing the maintenance contractors just for the fun value. You know how mean people can be especially for a flat that they don't live in.

well they're not doing it on my behest, there's nothing wrong with the apt i live in. and the notice was from mgt, not a private landlord. i'm just thinking less than 24 hours is ridiculous. if they make too much noise, well, those bolts will be a loosenin' pretty quick...

You are right. These things are planned well in advance and 24 hours notice is piss poor. The buildings management staff are to blame. I have experienced similar short notifications for suspensions in water and lift service. On one occassion we lost 'drinking' water with no prior notice then the next morning there appeared a notice in the lobby about the suspension!

I know just what you mean, i had the water turned off for 3 hours the other day, and only told about it 1min before. So much for the shower i was about to take! Cerberus, i would go out and buy (if you dont already have) some cloth, and tack it over the kitchen window. At least you'll have your privacy.

bogs, thanks for offering complicity. hope it won't come to that! discobay, it's good to have you on my side. i will talk to them again, although to their ill-intended credit i must add today passed and no scaffolding. maybe they changed their mind? nah, this is HK, they can't live without noise too long. crap baron, that's the pits. were you like all ready for a hot one? ooops. do you guys pay a lot for mgt? mine's like 470 a month. later!
