I've recently started watching Absolute Power.

Always been a big fan of Only fools and horses.

In my humble opinion the last few years there has been a real golden age in British comedy. Other than such fantastic shows such as the Office and recently Extras, I would check out some (or all!) of the following new(ish) shows:

Smoking Room - set in, you guessed it, an office Smoking Room

Monkey Dust - it is animated and VERY dark but the first two series were excellent and provactive in a warped way. Great soundtrack too with tunes by Goldfrap and The Eels to name but a few

Peep Show - very funny sitcomm about 2 guys sharing a flat together

15 Stories high - set in a 15 storey tower block - was originally a BBC4 radio show (also very funny)

The Mighty Boosh - off the wall and set somewhat in a zoo

Black Books - Bill Bailey working in a second hand book store

Pop Profiles - The show the Little Britain Team made before, well, Little Britain

QI - Highbrow quiz show hosted by Stephen Fry

Have I Got News for You - must be in its 15th year and can still be very funny (although, like QI, not a sitcomm)

Two Pints of Lager - Sitcomm set in Runcorn!

Where you can get these? Well I don't know. Some are available from The BBC, Channel 4 etc, some, like Extras, haven't been released and you would have to download to see them.

No mention of uknova.com yet. Is that far too naughty for these fora? For stuff that cannot be had on DVD it is the place to go.

neither3nor4,

I have been told of uknova before but I can't figure out how the download works. All I seem to get is a smal file which I cannot even open.

Anyone, any tips on downloading ?

cheers

UKnova has been mentioned before in these forums by various people, as its a great site.

As HKNewBi mentioned, Peep Show is very good. I never really got into the Mighty Boosh, it was a little like watching a comedy version of Doctor Who (budget wise). Rock Profiles had some good episodes such as the 'Take That' two. Another great comedy quiz show of sorts is 8 out of 10 cats, which is still screening now.

Did anyone here ever watch 'Filthy rich and catflap' back in the late 80's? Also, 'The Piglet files'.

Yeah, always enjoyed Flithy Rich and Clatflap ...

Am I the only person who did not find the office amusing? It was ok ... but hillarious? Excuse me!

Another one worth mentioning .. "How to start your own country" ... educational and fun.

Baron : You wally!

Funny...I feel the same. As often as I try to watch The Office, I find it ok but I am not one of those die hard fans who love evry line of what the uys says etc.

May we don;t get it....eh

There's something about the office that starts to depress me after about 10 minutes of viewing - maybe it's too close to the truth - or maybe just boring....
What about The Young Ones? Has anyone mentioned that great English comedy - many series - I think it started in the 80's so should be able to pick up cheaply these days.
Not what you'd call sophisticated humour - but v funny!
