soo glad i'm not alone and that someone (ie you guys) appreciate good music. i love indie, rock, shoegazing stuff (my bloody valentine-genius) plus emo stuff and punk. am desperate to see good live band but only covers here - the wanch is best bet i reckon, especially for rock. am even tempted to try and do an alternative night with limited supply of CDs (most back in UK)-what does everyone reckon? has anyone been to the warehouse in aberdeen? me and my boyfriend saw some good local bands up there, sorta pixies-ish stuff (cant remember their names now)

I was thinking of creating an alternative night too. Only I'm really new to the city and wouldn't know where to begin.

I suspect some of those bands will be performing at the Rock It Festival in November (http://www.rockit-hk.com). According to the festival site/blog Morcheeba will likely be the headliner. Not really "rock" imho, but still a decent act.

the wanch is a live music venue in wanchai (54 jaffe road). think it has bands on every night, have only been at weekend. there is a band called black seraphine i've seen a coupla times, they do ac/dc, van halen, ozzy, iron maiden, metallica... even seen them do dandy warhols 'bohemian like you'. it's all a bit cheesy but good fun nevertheless

heh heh! yeah i have to admit it is! cant remember if anyone mentioned the fringe club but there's a couple of good things on there coming up: this fri, rock bands from japan, taipei and HK, including HK "indie supergroup"(!) salty, soggy, sour (anyone heard of them?). on the 16th, mara caryle and the morph are playing (indie acoustic/acoustic pop) from N.Ireland. Might be worth checking out...
