I would still class Weezer as 'indie'. Bands like The Killers are kind of in a new catagory all together nowdays, they would have been 'indie' 10 years ago, but now they're more 'contemporindie' (a new catagory i just made up).

Baron- I'll keep my voice low next time. Good looking out.

ContemporIndie? Hahaha.. thats' funny! The Killers have a unique sound. Definitely something you can just sit back chill and have a drink and smoke. Good stuff..

Shoho- I just got into weezer. They got some awesome licks. Beverly Hills which is off the Make Believe album has some awesome ones. I need to pick up a few more CDs. My collection is looking grim. Got any suggestions?

Kitkat, i love 'The Bravery'. I was trying to get people into them a while back, but like most music, a lot of people wont listen to them untill they're classed as 'popular'...which is when i lose interest. But 'The Bravery' are a class act. Also love the newest 'Stereophonics' album. 'Dakota' (Stereophonics) is one of the best songs i've heard for years!

Hi there kitty (I presume that is what you mean),

Well kitty, the hard rock cafe is just some place where they sell mugs imprinted with "american brand logo" + "Hong Kong" to tourists, preferrably from the north amrican continent.
seriously; no crowd surfing, but great burgers.

I'm happy to report that, when entertaing locals at the causeway bay CEO neeeway kareoke joint, I managed to find and perform a franz ferdinand track. took me about four drinks until I managed to figure out how to switch from chinese to english and start browsing.
alas, now they don't talk to me. to many references to their mothers in that song.

well well quite the response. guess we have a major contingent of disaffected indie lovers out there. any shoegazers?
hey baron there are indie outfits in HK, try Whence He Came, they're awesome and their second CD's readily available at HK Records/HMV for like 125-135 bucks.
3nor4, thx a mill for the links, will keep an eye on the underground and see if any shows come our way.
keep this thread alive we need to support the city's music culture before its too disneyfied.

I asked a similar indie rock related question last month. You can see the thread here: Live Music and Concerts in Hong Kong

Basically, I've kind of given up.

KitKat, I like your taste in music. I agree, The Killers are "alright" but even that I think, is generous. Something about the fact that they're from Las Vegas and pretend they're British that really bothers me.

But I like the rest of your music especially Franz and my fellow Canadians, Hot Hot Heat. Good taste.

your thread's gone for some reason, and what's wrong with being a wannabe brit in LV? beats being a wannabe bronxian in taiwan.
