Looking for a room to rent

Hi all. I am here cos' I love HK-PERIOD! I have been visiting there since June or July of last year and just love the lifestyle there. I have been back there 3 times last year and this year only once. (Came back early due to SARS). I don't just visit there but I do my own internet business as well. I am here looking for if someone has a place or room they can rent out to me? I was in Central and Lantau Island before staying at friends but now, they have moved in back with their parents so it's not so convenient staying there. I don't need too much space, just a place to sleep and a area for a working table. I had someone that came close to renting a room for me in Mongkok for 2000 HKD which I believe was reasonable. But he had changes in and that didn't go through. My plan was to leave here by late November and stay 3-6 months if possible. I know they limit US Citizens to 90 days but I heard I can head out to Macau and check back in for another 90 days? Not sure if that is correct but please correct me if I am wrong. I would prefer somewhere in the HK side if I had a choice but anywhere would be fine really as soon as the space and price is decent. I don't mind having roommates either and sharing a flat. I speak fluent cantonese and english. My budget is low, nothing over 3500 (I know)..just wondering if anyone can help me out as I want to spend my holidays there alone and away from the states. Thanks to everyone who read this and responded.

Me,
Buddy_C

Takes you to listings on Gohome.Com.hk for less than 5000. Several dozen of them are in your range.

You may also want to look at the HK Magazine Classifieds for flat shares.

The YWCA lodge has some cheap housing.

A little bit more than what you're willing to pay, but atleast you're not dealing with the dodgy dai-lo's from Mongkok.

hi Shri, thanks for the links. I can`t seem to find the price list to the YWCA and is that for only WOMEN or CHRISTIAN? Sorry I`m not really that religious or however. Just wondering that is all. Perhaps I can stay at the YWCA (If it is affordable) and look at gohome.com.hk whilst I`m there? Shri, personally do the owners or property agent make you sign any sort of agreement to say the minimum rent stay? As if i am require to sign a 6 month or 1 year contract? Or is month to month? I have no idea since I have yet to find any places to rent for myself..even here in US. Thanks and I`ll be emailing info to the YWCA contact after this. Keep in touch!

Hey thanks for the post Shri! It states it starts at 4K and is negotiable for longer term which i am looking to at least 90 days or 3 month. LOOOKING GOOD! I was just depressed when the guy at Mongkok said his space wasn`t available any further. Until tonight I know there is hope!!! Last time I went to HK was March and I subscribed to PCCW broadband for only 2 and half months and there was a termination fee of about 700 or 600HKD. So that wasnt worth it as I believe the contract is for 1 year. But anyhow, I believe that Lodge has free broadband internet which will WORK for me. Shri which area do you reside in? Last time I was in Peel St. I was living at a friends old apartment. Pretty neat I think. Keep in touch!
