Hi,
I have been pouring over pretty much every post in this site for a few months now, I finally have a question that I haven't seen here.
Well like a lot of you I will be moving to HK in a few months, around December. And i have been actively looking for work, networking, online that sort of thing.
Well my back ground is in Restaurant Management, Chef, Hospitality industry. Does anyone out there know what the job market is like in Hong Kong for this area? Any contacts? Suggestions on where else to look?

Hi there. there are usually loads of jobs out here for the hospitality since HKG is full of F & B outlets. However, do not expect to get paid a lot - its the usual, long working hours and average pay. Depending on where you're from and years of experience - you might find yourself underpaid for what you're doing.

There is an agency here which specialises in hospitality recruitment - GSA or Glover Sey Associates if i don't remember wrongly. Google for them and you'll find their website.

Or search www.scmp.com in the classifieds section for jobs.

thank you for the advice, i kind of figured it would be a little more of an underpaid area, unless i can actually get a chef position or restaurant manager..

Well just look at the ads in HK magazine and try ur luck.Also try the SCMP careerpost section on saturdays.Careerpost 1 to be precise, for hotel and catering openings.Hope u have a HK ID card and are allowed to work in HK.
