Drunk Tourist (Kelsey Michael Mudd) Caught on Tape Stealing Taxi

Australian arrested after fatal Hong Kong taxi smash

By China correspondent Stephen McDonell

An Australian has been arrested in Hong Kong after the taxi he was in crashed and the driver died.

According to local media reports, Kelsey Michael Mudd was a passenger in a Hong Kong taxi when he had a dispute with his driver in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Sunday Morning Post says More.. the car then smashed into three other taxis travelling in the opposite direction. The taxi driver later died in hospital.

Reports also say the 22-year-old tried to drive off in the car, then hit another taxi.

He has reportedly been arrested initially on suspicion of taking a vehicle without authority and drink driving.

But following the death of the taxi driver, he could face more serious charges.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says consular staff in Hong Kong are trying to contact Mr Mudd to offer him assistance.

A spokeswoman for the department says it is also offering support for the man's family.

The video is in Chinese but keep on looking and you'll see the drunk take off in the busted up taxi and hit another one with the police running after him. what a joke.

no wonder some people think HK Police are a joke, they couldnt even bother to cuff the dumb ass or take the keys out of the taxi, if it had been the states you would have seen 5 or 6 cops drag him out and jump on him.

He sure is going to wake up with a bad hangover and the rest of his life FU@#ED.

Post the youtube link here

Perhaps you think that a little Rodney King beating would make the HK police look more impressive?

Hope that guy rots in jail for many years, that might teach him and other stupid drunks a lesson... at the very least, he'll be out of people's hair for a while.

In mitigation, Mr Mudd's barrister said that, "the defender was suffering from shock and cannot be held accountable for driving off."

There's always an excuse but I wonder what caused the crash in the first place. A drunk sitting in the front seat grabbing the steering wheel? Unfortunately, his fingerprints will be all over the wheel now.

Bet he just gets a slap on the wrist.

I think you are right Claire, they will have trouble proving the lowlife grabbed the wheel or assaulted the driver.
I doubt justice will prevail...
(ie: throw him an Ozzie tank and throw away the key).
