Strange visa situation hi, I was accepted by my supervisor to work in his lab in hku. He has already sent my documents to make a working visa. However, i intend to be a student under him after 3-4 months. Is it better to continue with the working visa even though it is only for a few months and change to a student visa much later? How fast is the application for student visa? Thanks

It took me roughly 4 weeks to get a 1yr student visa for HKU, which I have to renew every year, until I finish my program. There's one more thing, it's illegal to take up employment with a student visa, so if there is compensation involved for the research, go with the working visa...or find some ppl doing research in uni, and ask them how they've solved it!

don't worry I hope to get the scholarship so that they can pay me... ;-) Just hope the processing is not too long. It sounds a little stupid, changing 2 visa within a short span of 3-4 months.
