do you think its cheaper to book flt tickets with a travel agent and then hotels thru internet(they appear to be much cheaper) or is it cheaper to get a full package deal???? the packages seem to be exorbitant for 3-4 days so wonder what they'll be like for 10 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bali. I said it once and I'll say it again because we're not allowed to post one word replies: Bali.

Why? Beautiful weather, nice beaches, breathtaking scenery and wonderful culture. People are so friendly, food is great and the place is cheap. Find a nice resort and you can just forget about it all for a while...

Look at Cathay Pacific or Garuda for cheap airfares, then do some searching online for a hotel thats right for you.

Bali has a heap to offer. I went years ago and keep meaning to go back. We stayed a few nights in Sanur - quieter than the main tourist place of Kuta, then into Ubud in the rain forest , then five days at Club Meda nd there were so many other options. Just move around a bit. hire a driver for the day and go exploring. Be very careful with your luggage though, invest in cable ties and shrink wrap to ensure nothing unusual gets added to your gear without your knowledge.

Have a look here for suggested iternaries http://www.trailfinders.com/index.htm

Its quite expensive leaving Hong Kong - you could fly from Shenzhen instead as an alternative. You get the ferry from Kowloon to Shenzhen and then jump on the free shuttle bus to the airport.

But you will need a Chinese visa to do this.

Ooooohhhh so many ideas. How about Beijing - Xian - Shanghai ? How about Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh (travelling down by train/bus) ? Flying into Vietnam is quite pricey though. How about Bangkok - Chiang Mai? How about Kota Kinabula - Orangutans ?

Remember to check the weather situation in each place though - it can be lovely in one place and chucking it down with rain in another.
