Val: How big is your board (mine's nine feet, and I can't tell you how many time's I've nearly broken a window or nearly decapitated someone merely by turning around)? And what route do you take to get to BWB?

thx

Hi, been living in Hk for nearly two months and only just found out that there are some surf spots here!!! anyway also heard that on the 11 dec there is a Rip Curl surf competition in Sai Kung.
its been a couple of months since i was last in the water but I'm up for checking out Big wave bay this weekend (need to make up on lose time). Anyone know what conditions are looking like for this weekend, tides etc??

Also if anyone feels like coming along let me know.

Peter

Hey pyates, aparantly no waves this weekend, sorry.

Where is the competition @?
Zizou, my board is around 6ft, i guess you would have a bit of trouble with a 9ft board. I take the cab to bigwave from stanley, its about 80dolls, then i take the bus back to shau kei wan.

Surf comp

Hi, here is the link the surf comp. its at Tai Long Wan, Sai Kung. There is a boat trip involved (and/or a hike) so the spot is not accessable by road. I was reading that this spot generally has better conditions than big wave bay, which i guess makes sense if you're hosting a competition.

The competition is open to competitors so anyone who wanted to can enter!!

hooray

Excellent, there are some other novice surfers out here. Have only just arrived from the UK but went in Cornwall just before I moved here and got hooked. Anyones who's been to the beachs - have you seen somewhere I can hire wettie and board if I go down to the coast?

Clairebella, hch, Jlongboard...and all the other original people on this forum.

I read avidly your posts a while ago (Devon and Cornwall veteran also) and wrote in myself before leaving for HK. I'm finally living here now and wondered what the surf is like now and/or if anyone is up to give it a go or keen to try wakeboarding or anything else that gets us in the water ASAP.

Let us know if you're still out there. I'm always keen and if the conditions are rubbish propose we meet up for a beer instead rather than spend our lives on the computer and plan the next (first) trip.
