Yesterday at Big Wave

yeah the water gets pretty cold, i would recomend it because its just easier, in like novemeber its tough to do with just a rash vest, although ive done it. Anyone in big wave yesterday, the weather was shit but the waves were great, regrettably they were breaking a little too far out but good none the less. Were did you go in lantau?

finally made it to BWB yesterday & had a bit of a surf...

it was way too crowed for my liking though...

was any on out there yesterday as well? there were lots of expats about~!

p.s. managed to find out some info from a couple of local chinese femal surfers that the guy that runs the surf shop @ BWB is Nelson & 1 of the girls bought her board there for under HK$1300 with leash and that you would need wetties when it gets cooler.

damn. did anyone go to bwb on saturday when the typhoon was close? my god the waves were huge, the shark net snapped. the beach was closed and the tide was in about 10 m from the trees at the back (in front of the changing rooms, fro anyone familliar with bwb) the waves were absolutey huge and there were two breaks colliding. Amazing.

Claireabella,
I haven't been able to find anything to shape with yet, since i am not there and i wont be in HK until december. I was planning on bringing a few things with but i dont think i can bring poly resin with on the plane. Last time i was there i was able to find glass and tools that i would need. I'm sure I'll be able to find what i need there. After all everything is pretty much made in China nowadays right?
And I would have no problem with fixing your fin and a few patch jobs. What kind of board do you have? Short? Longboard? If you can hold out until December or January for the fix?
How's the surf now? I know there is a typhoon headed your way.

Hey I'd really like to meet up some people to go surfing, its less fun going alone and none of my friends surf. If anybody ever does a surftrip in Saikung or Lantau or a get together with all the expat surfers it'd be really great. Is there anybody that shapes around here, I need to fix my dad's board so it's kind of urgent, I saw a shaper in BWB but I'm not sure if he's any good, any advice?
