hey y'all~! am keen on a surf~! pls keep me posted. been meaning to but no 1 to go with or the weather is too good for surfing (no waves unless there's a storm...) I'm keeping my eye on the weather report for this weekend hoping for the storm activities in Japan & Taiwan to come closer this way. those interested PM me your number & i'll buzz ya if i head out~! note: there're 2 Big Wave Bay in HK - 1 in Shek O (south side HK Island) & 1 in Sai Kung (as mentioned above); both are a bitch to get to esp if u've got your own board that u wanna use. The 1 in Sai Kung as mentioned above is a 2 hr hike, alternativly u can hire/jump on board a boat @ Sai Kung pier & u should get there in about 30min (so i've heard). as for shaping boards, i've seen a tiny "shop" @ Big Wave Bay Shek O that does rental & i've seen teh guy there shaping boards, maybe u can have a chat with him. note 2: alternative to surfing in HK is wind surfing & the ultra popular wakeboarding, anyone keen on either, also PM me & i'll see if i can org soemthing~! warnig: DO NOT try the new "popular water sport" of skim-boarding!

surfing in the 852 i have lived in hk for 7 years. The easiest place to surf is in big wave bay. you can cab it or take a bus really easily. The waves are really fickle in sept early oct. by the time november comes around they start getting good. Theyre big and actually big wave is a great spot cause its deep enough for pros further but for novices its less deep. the break is also pretty sweet. theyre are some sweet spots further but you have to know where youre going and you need a boat. Big wave a;so just got redeveloped so the changing rooms are nice and there is a cafe that serves pretty nice food. There is another big wave in sai kung but you gotta walk for like 2 and a half hours. and i something happens you gotta get a helicopter, as has happened to a friend in sai kung. plus a good site for viewing conditions is http://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/BigWaveBay.shtml usually reliable though at the moment it seems to be down. anyone with any tips or advice please reply. peace.

jlongboard - did you find anypalce to get materials? If so are you willingto take on jobs e.g replacing a fin (which is lost) and some glass mending? I coud perhaps bring some supplies from the UK if it might help! thanks Claire
