Discovery Bay ?

OK, so I finally agreed to come. Now to find a new home. I'd be interested to hear views re the pro's and cons of living in Discovery Bay (working in Central-ish).

Thanks in advance, td.

I live in DB but have no kids or pets. If you do have either than the international school, kindergarden is a strong selling point - but if you haven't got kids or pets then DB will be a less obvious location to move to. Here is my list of pro and cons

Pro:
1. Lots of living space for less $ than in MidLevels / Central
2. Clean air (for HK standards)
3. Can ride the bicycle without risk of near-death experience
4. Beach within walking distance
5. Hiking options in the hills nearby
6. 25 mins by bus to the airport
7. Golf course
8. Serenity! Can walk without anyone stepping on your feet or bumping into you
9. Close to Disneyland

Cons:
1. 25 mins from Central by ferry; i.e. long commute
2. Late night ferry schedule limited; bad if you're a night owl
3. No nightlife to speak of
4. Difficult to meet single people, DB is very family-oriented
5. Lots of kids (can be a 'pro', of course, if that's what you want)
6. Can't get there by private motor car or taxi
7. surcharge for home delivery of bulky items bought outside DB
8. people who live on HK island will frown if you tell them where you live
9. Close to Disneyland
