| | | Where to buy LCD monitor? Hi all,
I need to get myself a LCD monitor and i was wondering if you guys kno any places that are particular good with prices and all. I know that prices over on the HK side tend to be slightly higher that those in Kowloon.
Any info will be much appreciated
Thx | |

| | I've bought a couple of monitors from the top floor of Wanchai Computer Center -- the shop which has about 30 of them lined up for display.
The problem with trying to find the cheapest is there will always be a cheaper place 23 miles away.

| | | Try to get to see your monitor before you buy it - I bought an IBM from Wanchai Computer Centrre about 5 years ago, and when I got it home, it had one pixel out right in the middle of the screen.
I complained, but they said it was within limits, which IBM confirmed when I called them - apparently they 'allowed' up to 8 dodgy pixels per screen before replacing it. I don't know if things have changed since hen?

| | Thx for those who replied!!
I ended up buying an Acer monitor from Mongkok computer center. I had the monitor tested before I bought it but that was only to check for missing pixels and everything was fine but when I tested at home I noticed that the built-in speakers are VERY quiet!! I don't know whether there's actually something wrong with the speakers or it was built to be mouse quiet.
Any suggestions on what I can do?
Thx! | |

No. BenQ and a couple have good policies. Most shops I know will allow you to inspect before you take delivery / pay.

one thing you forgot to test out was the speaker,
i made that mistake last time i brought mine too,
many lcd monitor speakers are very quiet,
not useful at all, add weight and size but not functional
next time, i might consider those models without built in speakers

| | Vrindavan, I've tried everything...the volume of the monitor, speakers, audio setup, everything is at the max and it's still so quiet. Wasn't sure if it was something with the setup or my sound card, but I think you're right, they are probably just useless. Oh well, guess need to now save up to buy some external speakers! Wahaha! | |
