is it possible to open an account with only an USA passport in any HK banks?? My driver's license has expired. Thanks in advance.

i had no problem 10 years ago opening an account with a passport...no driver's licence needed(most in HK probably don't have DL's anyway...)

HSBC opened an account for me 2-3 mths ago without a HKID card etc. I did, however, need a leeter from my employer stating my income and the fact I work there.

I was at Belgian Bank- need HK ID
ICBC- need local address
Bank of China- asked me for everything but my mothers signature

From the bank's point of view they would need to see some proof of address aswell as identification like a passport. You could use your employer's address as a start.
