| Singaporeans in Hong Kong -- accommodation Wow, so many Singaporeans in Hong Kong. I'm a Sinagore PR, now staying in Singapore and am used to Singaporean lifestyle. Being a HK local, I return to HK very often, and so I'm an expat in another sense. I know both places well and can advise on certain topics. You all talk about maken. How about dwelling and living environment? Singaporeans may find accommodation in most HK flats too small, too crowded, too expensive comparing to HDB and private condominium in their home city. I found a "hidden" place in HK, with living environment very similar to a East Coast condo, with private landscaping, club houses, green open space, sea view, clean air etc. It is Park Island in an outlying island called Ma Wan, now linked to Tsuen Wan by the famous Tsing Ma Bridge. Don't think that it is very isolated. If you travel by the 24-hr ferry, you arrive at Central in 25 min. (right to IFC) or you may take the designated shuttle bus to reach the nearby Tsing Yi or Kwan Fong MTR stations in about 10 min. Don't think that the transfer is too troublesome. If you stay in mid levels or Repulse Bay, you still have to rely on transfer by mini-bus etc. before getting on a MTR, but you have to pay double in rental for a comparable flat. So I recommend Park Island to expats, esp. Singaporeans who missed their home city living environment. |

| Great to see that more Singaporeans are responding to this thread. Now that there are so many newcomers here, I'll leave you guys to organize the next event while I take a back seat I think we may have to book a function room for the next gathering at the rate we are growing! |
