Chia ba buay? Wah, where did all the Singaporeans come from on this site? I'm a Singaporean myself and have been here for four years already. Sad to say, good Singaporean/Malaysian makan are hard to find in Hong Kong. Best thing to do is to do it yourself! I highly recommend Mrs. Lee's Cookbook, I use her recipes all the time.

Alternatively, there's a place in Wing Wah Lane in Lan Kwai Fong that serves pretty decent pratta and a few not too bad Malaysian dishes. It's the Co Co Curry House. Haven't been there for a long time since I now do the cooking at home myself.

To the Singaporeans on this link, Happy Belated National Day!

Belinda,

Do you have web site for the singapore association or the location of this association? Please do drop me an email.

Happy hour?! Exact location of that place?

Guys, I was in HK since Jan and have not been places for your info.

Makan place? Shop name and the address pls.

Bingo,

Most of the time I find that people here like to eat (no offense) n they do love shopping. Anyway, at times I feel bored to be here. Do you what kind of sports they do, beside hiking / walking hill. Do they rollerblade/ inline skate ...etc.

That's true not just of HK but any place in the world outside of Malaysia and Singapore. Puzzling why on the international plane it's one of the most underrated and undersold cuisines (don't know about OZ with its big intake of M'sian students). Ironically, to us the prime attraction of a visit to M'sia/S'pore is the fantastic variety of local food options.

BTW, Belinda, I've been to Sabah near Delaneys and Pad Thai long back - Rendang only above average, lah. Will give their Bak Kut Teh a try, now that you mention it - hope they have the dark kind of soup with Long-Fried-Thing (Yu Char Kway?).

S'pore & M'sia food in HK

HK Fella,

Yeap, u r right. Good S'pore / M'sia food r really hard to find in HK, so much so as we have to lower our expectations!

For Sabah at Wanchai, u might want to try Hokkien Fry Noodle (M'sia style with dark soy sauce) my favorite! Assam fish, roti prata & teh tarik.

For most Thai food in HK - not spicy & very sweet (for curry)! Just like the way they serve in Pad Thai.

If u like S'pore/ M'sia food, try coffee shop at City Garden Hotel. They serve good "chai tao kueh", "char kwey tiou", "Rojak" & ......
Wanna join us on Thursday?

Belinda, thanks for the invite. Wish I could, but I may have an airport express pickup to do at HK Station. I'll check and PM you. Is there parking at your makan venue?
