Red face What do u do other than LKF?

Am curious to know what couples, esp Indians do on weekends? Am talking about those who have no extended familes here in hk, or do not go bar hopping in LKF or Those who do not live in TST.

IS there more to it than just hanging out in malls, shopping or dining/drinking for people like that. Am assuming not all have the financial standing either to engage in the above all the time......

Hiking (lots of great trails), swimming (when weather is good), museums (when weather is bad :-)), taking a ferry ride to Lamma, Cheung Chau and eat sea food...
U have plenty of options.....

Talking

hi, i m an indian and i have exactly the same case as u have mentioned . no extended families here and we dont go to bar in LKF , neither we live in TST. saturdays and sundays, we generallyhave a get together with another indian family in same building, and we go out for dinner and talk for hours when we come back.
at times, ( say once a month), we go to places like beach or take a round of shopping malls (doesnt mean we do shopping, frankly not very fond of it ) or watch some movie or at times, go to other friend's place. its good fun.
what about u?? r u an indian??

Thers's plenty of great hiking (not in this weather I admit). A limited selection of movies at the cinema. Various sports options (badminton, squash, etc.). And not all social activity involves hanging around in Bar George or similar - plenty of people host dinner parties either at home or in more salubrious establishments.

Red face Thanks for the replies...

Sure there are parks...there are cinemas, beaches, sports, etc

But once u've been in hk for more than 3 years i feel it all becomes not so exciting...the movie selection out here is really poor...u barely have somehting to watch every month....all the outdoor activites again are limited...due to weather and the heat/humidity which i'd say is there practically for 2/3rds of the yr.

Personally i feel Hk is superficial....the property mkt, the high std of living, the gr8 shopping etc..its all a bubble that bursts once u've decided to live here and are not a tourist/visitor. The people who really enjoy...or should i say can enjoy are those who can afford to have everything....gr8 housing, gr8 social circle, amenties for kids and family etc.

Yo HKGER,

All this 'negativity' on this bright and new week, has certainly made my day.

Having been in honkers slighty more then double your time here[this time around], I have immediately spotted the problem[if you will allow me to call it that]

What you need is a change of people not place. If you hang out with the same bunch, and do the same things pretty soon you will be climbing the walls.

Might I suggest having some tapas on Thursday @Rico's? You will meet a lot of new people, and maybe some old ones you have not seen in a while.

Who knows you may even see me there

Cheers
KK

Well, if you get bored in HK, like in any other cities in the world after a while (lived in many cities in Europe, where I got bored after a few years - usually 2 to 3), why don't you try to go somewhere else??
