Just to let everyone know that there's heaps of live music events happening in town these days. Heaps of bands from China coming to play. HK's live music scene is BOOMING!

Hey Melody! Great to see you here again! How you doing? Btw love your musical handle

There's info on the Underground mailing list and also at the gig guide at HKGFM.net plus BC magazine has stuff as well as HK Mag and Time Out.

My pick of the month - Underground 60 on 31st May - The Honeys from Shanghai are playing and they have played in US (at Whisky A Go Go!) and Europe as well as China of course.

I agree that a lot has been happening music-wise in Hong Kong lately.

There is not one, but two music Sichuan fundraisers on this Sunday:

- one will be at the Fringe, with 14 bands I think
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=32349492512

- and one at Backstage
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?ei...4059&ref=share

There will be a whole bunch of French dance etc acts coming to town soon as part of a festival
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?ei...7872&ref=share

Also there are regular HK band gigs playing, eg through the Underground HK
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6124514106

(Yes, in case you noticed, I keep in touch with a lot of events through Facebook groups)

HK Underground is the place for some great young bands playing some cool original music. Once or twice a month Chris B puts on a great party! Check out the schedule at undergroundhk.com - up

i think hong kong is start becoming on the map for gigs lately, though macau and singapore are the rival venues for gigs, I seen muse and linkin park in hk, oasis & coldplay played in 2005/2006 and as well as feeder, james blunt a month ago.

I even heard johnny greenwood ( radiohead) that they like to play in places that they have played for ages ( last time in 1995) and mentioned hong kong a year ago.

But there are no music festivals here such as V festival, Carling weekend, glastonbury, woodstock or fuji rock fest,

Though its not like in uk, us or japan where you can see great gigs often ( eg, I've seen radiohead (twice), muse, coldplay, the stokes, snow patrol, etc.. in uk ), it becoming better than 10 years ago as you only see suede regularly (they are still popular in hk, though not in uk)

ps. i don't think a mosh pit or any act of moshing or crowd surfing is allow in hk at gigs.
( its a shame as crowd surfing and moshing are fun as well as a bit dangerous)
