Wink Pros and cons of Sheung Wan

Hi, what's Sheung Wan like?

What is the atmosphere, facilities, pollution, apartments, shops etc like? How far from Central?

I'm on a 5000-7000HK budget, I want a furnished not serviced apartment for one person.

Thanks

We were looking for a place in the mid-levels and ended up just above Sheung Wan and I love it. I'm still getting to know the area because we have only been here about 3 weeks but you have SOHO etc just a few minutes one way and a few minutes the other way you have a much more local kind of feeling. I've found it to be a far more practical place to live because there are lots of little places selling household stuff and lots of little places to get everyday foods which have good hours. There are Wellcomes and Park n Shops too but I do find the ones on Caine Road to be better for me. There's a MCDonalds and Watsons just opposite the Wellcome at the bottom of ladder Street. You also have the end of the line for the MTR and the tram so you always get a seat if leaving from there. The distance to central is minimal 5- 15 minutes walk depending on where you go. There are also 3 nice parks/sitting out areas (Hollywood Road, Blake Garden, King George). Its also quiet in our area with not alot of traffic off the main roads and I haven't found it to be polluted although people do tend to pile up rubbish by the bins and with this ghost festival there are people burning things everywhere at the moment. There is the Fitness First gym at Grand Milennium Plaza.

Used to live in Sai Ying Pun on Third Street. Not close to the MTR so I used to get the mini-bus on my doorstep to Wanchai and Causeway Bay. Otherwise taxis are plenty. Quiet neighbourhood and cleaner than it looks.

On an editorial note..

Could you PLEASE switch to posting your messages in a regular color? The PINK makes my eyes bleed and I can assure you, most people will not bother reading the posts.

Yes, style does matter over substance at times.
