| Prolonged visitor visa Hello all. I wonder if I might ask your advice. I am a UK lawyer who is being posted to HK with my firm for a couple of years, hopefully in october. Because of my specialism I am told that it is fairly straightforward for me to get a work permit and my firm have applied for one on my behalf. However, I would like to girlfriend to accompany me. She is a Thai national but with UK residency. My firm has applied for a "Prolonged Visitor Visa" on her behalf. Do anyone know how likely it is that this will be granted? She is a qualified lawyer but this visa would not allow her to work. My salary will be good and I have undertaken to be responsible for all our expesnes etc. We have also submitted evidnce of co-habitation for last couple of years in London, joint accounts etc, sworn statements from doctors, lawyers etc who know us. Also, any ideas how long it takes in reality to process our applications? Any advice gratefully received. Cheers. |

| hello The processing time would take approximately 4 weeks. The prolonged visitors visa is only a temporary solution to allowing your girlfriend to visit you in Hong Kong for a certain period of time. Is she looking to find a position in Hong Kong as well? |
