| | | Marriage in HK I am a HK permanent resident and planning to marry in HK with my boyfriend who is a German and currently living there. My questions:
1. for him, is it enough just to hold a German passport to register all marriage formalities in HK? Anyone has experience?
2. we plan to settle down in HK, how/what to do so that he can stay in HK? I gathered, there is sort of dependent visa. Is it true? Does he need to stay in HK in the course of visa process?
Thanks! | |

| | | Yes, a dependant visa is necessary & can be obtained here or in Germany, getting married is OK with a passport & is something you need to do before you can get a dependant visa. | |

| | | Thanks for your quick reply. After marriage, I suppose I am the one who is responsible for his dependent visa. I am a fresh graduate and looking for job at the moment. Would it be a problem for his dependent visa if I am unemployed? Thanks for any sharings. | |

| | | One more question:
After getting a dependent visa, can he get a HK ID card? Whenever he enters HK, can he just show this card instead of his passport?

| | | The dependent visa might be a problem if you cannot show that you have the financial means to support him. He will get a HKID if he gets a visa, and he will need his passport (with the visa in it) and his HKID to enter HK. | |

| | | Thanks again. I have surfed around the immd.gov.hk site both in Chinese and English, as well written an email to the dept. Their reply is more or less the same from those info on the website.
We are planning to build up our own biz and start everything from zero.
Is it enough to show our savings for the dependent visa?

| | | Thanks for your reply. What kind of biz? hehe...secrete at the moment. Our biz may not be that labour intensive :-) In future if we need manpower, I would find you :-)
I know there will be many questions/problems coming up about our move to HK, living, health, job/biz...need to be solved step by step.
I just hope that he doesnt need to go back Germany during the time and everything will be fine. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 03:38 AM.
