Unhappy Serviced Apt., HK Island, $9000pm - The stuff of fairytales?

It seemed so possible, but after a few recent enquires on actual availability its beginning to loom like getting a flat on HK Island, (pref. north west or mid west) is impossible!

Is it easier when your there? Would it be easy to find this if i checked into a hotel for a few days first? or am i just dreaming!

I'm not laughing anymore!

Must say, while I have seen some reasonable prices advertised, I have not actually stumbled upon reasonable places for those prices. Cheapest HK side servicse apt I found was 15k, plus broadband, etc. and get this - a kind of communal kitchen!

The problem is that the owners are partying like its 1997.

I'd strongly recommend being in HK, given that the lowerend flats are not going to get exposure on gohome and other estate agent websites.

(Oh yeah .. serviced apartments are not going go that cheap . but you will be able to find a regular apartment in that price range)

Hi there
I am currently in a serviced studio in Wanchai for less than 9000, so it's possible. I don't have the contact details, but the place is called takan lodge. It's a very small block by HK standards (less than 50 units all up). I'm not sure of the current rates, but i do know that it's negotiable.

Let me know if you need more details.

Cheers

I'm really confused as to why anyone would require a serviced apartment. You are going to pay WAY more than you should, only because it's serviced. My advice is: you can find a great (and even new/remodeled) place for around 10k in the central/midlevels area if you hook up with an agent, but it'll be un-serviced. That's your best bet in my opinion.

because it wouldnt be a particulary clever idea to sign up for an apartment for a few years before you've got to know the area, and that takes more than a few days....
