Do you have recommendations for artists/albums for "essential" Mandarin pop music? I've been listening to quite a bit of Faye Wong, but looking to diversify into some other artists.

mr. zhou, hopscotch, ak47, hang on the box, second hand roses, ruins, iron kite...so many bands. they're all more indie-oriented and from the mainland, but that's why you need to support them in the first place. can be had in several HK locations, especially more mom and pop record joints.
