Cable TV connection

Hello again,

I was wondering if anyone of you could point me to a cable tv operator which has AXN (or is it a free channel?) and national geographic and discovery?
Also, I've seen an apartment which has PCCW mark on the cable outlet (?) does this mean that there is a cable tv service already included in the flat? This is in a very new building/flat.

Please help!

Now Broadband TV (PCCW Sub): http://www.nowbroadbandtv.com has AXN, Discovery and National G.

The signals are passed through your DSL connection, which has to be from Netvigator / Now Broadband as far as I know.

Cable TV

We recently arrived in HK and were faced with the problem of choice of cable TV and broadband companies. We finally settled on i-cable. They provide a basic package with cable broadband (quite decent) with a basic package that includes Discovery, National Geographic, BBC World, CNN, and a variety of other English language channels. The broadband cable experience has been good. As for cable TV - it was good until at the end of last month someone decided that we were not subscribed to the basic cable TV set. After a few telephone calls and three days, the cable channels are back up and running. The reception is quite good. So in all - a decent choice.

Thanks everyone for your comments. KIA, I dropped by the PCCW last night and the lady said they didn't carry AXN! I looked at Hong Kong Cable but am not sure I can get connection with them. I'm not sure whether HK building are covered exclusively by one cable company or whether I can engage HK Cable even if PCCW appears to be the main provider in the bldg?

Yep, my mistake. Thought I'd seen AXN adverts on the promo channel on Now. Sorry.

some buildings like mine mean you can have both. You just have to phone the providers and ask if they cover your building.

I have both as I want the premiership soccer and also star sports/espn and therefore unfortunately have to get both.

My building, although only 20 years old, isn't hooked up for the Now Broadband service. We can get the HKcable though which has Nat Geographic Channel, Discovery & AXN (you may have to pay extra for that one). Downside is no ESPN / Star Sports and no Star World...

You can find details at www.cabletv.com.hk. Or you frequently see stands set up around the Mid Levels escalator, MongKok, Causeway Bay etc offering special deals. Good luck!

And be aware that by June next year none of the Star channels, nor HBO, nor Cinemax will be available on CableTV because NOW has bought the exclusive rights.
