| | | Clothing in HK This may sound stupid, but here goes...
Im moving to HK in sept, and its just occured that whilst its the fashion (and im sure this will be contended) to wear jeans in london, its porb not the most suitable fabric (denim that is) for somewhere as hot and humid as HK.
Whats the best kinda clothing to be comfortable out there and moreover, where do I get it when i get there?

| | | I wear jeans all year round and I wear a suit to work. If you wanna stay cool, a t-shirt and a pair of shorts is hard to beat. you can get t-shirts and jeans anywhere in hong kong, as long as you don't need 2XL and up, because then it would involve a little bit of a hunt. | |

| | | Linen is the coolest material + think about short-sleeved shirts + flip-flops/sandals. Remember that it does go down to 10 degrees in winter so you will need your jeans then. I would certainly stock up before you come over to HK and bring everything with you. More choice back in the UK and you are more likely to find your size back home too. | |

If you need 2XL and up or any kind of western style clothing, trouser or jeans. U can easily find them in those 'export' clothes shop on Fa Yuen Street (Mong kok) or there are a few of them in Wan Chai

| | | How do I get to Fa Yuen street? Anyone know which exit to take from the MTR? I don't know too much about Mongkok, sadly... | |

| | | Take the MTR to Prince Edward Station. Follow the signs to the Flower Market. And instead of turning into the Flower Market, cross the main road and you're at Fa Yuen Street Market. The first couple of stalls are fruit vendors. Just follow the crowd. | |

| | | Is it advisable to bring a 'heavy-duty' coat (i.e. a parker or something along those lines) for the winter, or will a light weight (what i call a summer coat - english summer that is!) coat do? | |

| | | Puleaze,
I were my Canadian suits in the dead of einter, and wear a scarf, and occasionally regret that I didn't bring one of my overcoats over...otherwise, the issue is heat. In summer, I keep a tie and jacket at work, and wear linen trousers and cotton dress shirts...and spend a fortune on cabs because it is twenty minutes, 10 at each end of the MTR, walking to work.

| | | My husband and I have had a heck of a time trying to buy clothes here. He is 6'4 and and I am 5'11... we are just a little too tall for HK. And forget ladies shoes, the sales people just shake their heads when I ask for a ladies size 11. I did a fair bit of shopping in Canada before I came and plan on hitting Shenzhen to get some pants/skirts made. I hope to go back in the next few months to stock up on jeans and sweaters for the winter.
But one store I have had some luck... Esprit in Tung Chung. You have to do some digging and the pants are still usually too short, but sometimes you luck out. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 01:44 PM.
