| | | Anyone living Sheung Wan/ Sai Ying Pun? I am interested in hearing from anyone living in or around Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun. There seem to be plenty of apartments for rent in these areas on gohome.com in my price range (around 5000/mth). I have been living in China for a year so am not phased by living in amongst locals but do want to hear about the quality of these apartments, particularly if they are partly or fully furnished? ANYTHING you can tell me would be appreciated!! | |

| | | SW has a large number of old walk up buildings, so this is reflected in the prices. It's right next to Central however so not entirely inconvenient. There's trams, buses, and the last stop on the MTR. Lots of dried food shops in that district too, which adds to the local character. SYP is even more westwards, closer to HKU and no MTR. | |

| | | i live in sai ying pun (technically)...it's close to the mid-levels, too, aka expat central, so if you need to get away soho isn't too far.....it has it's own charm, too....a lot of the buildings are remnants of a hong kong that has all but disappeared.... | |

| | | I live in Sheung Wan and while there are lots of old buildings, there are a few new ones as well (Queens terrace, princeton tower, medal court), which are more expensive but you get what you pay for.
If interested that area it may be worth a look at the Tung Wah hostpital website who own a few towers in the this area and rent flats at decent rates | |

| | | I live in a great location. If I turn left, I have Mid-Levels - 10 to 15 minute walk to Soho & its charms. If I turn right, I have Sai Ying Pun where I can pay for fruit and vegetables at local prices rather than expat prices. The building I live in is superb. I get a lovely view of the park instead of someone else's bedroom. Only complaint is that I wish it was bigger. | |
