Hi,

One of my friend is here on a Visitor visa. He has been given 30 days visa after showing the company letter stating that he is here for discussions/meetings.

Now, he needs an extension for another 2 months. I found out from the Immigration that he needs to attend an interview.

Few queries...

1. What questions would they ask?
2. Is it possible to apply for a work permit as he is already in HK. During the process, the officers will know that he is in HK, what are the consequences??

It is usually a braindead verification of facts.

Having said that ... it sounds like he's already started working for the company.. or someone else.

well, hez been here only for discussions and will be returning in the first week of Sep.

I have an other option, two trips to Macau, probably this would be less risky...any inputs ??

At the end of the day, it depends on the company that sponsors the extension.

If HSBC were to do it, it would work. If Uncle Joe's Hair Accessory Trading company were to sponsor the extension for 2 more month's worth of discussions... you'd have to wonder.

At the end of the day, Immd is not in the business of preventing legit business..

What did you expect? An assurance that everything will be ok if he winks three times and wiggles his left ear?

Like I said ... if its legit and the company sponsoring the extension is legit, your friend is not going to have a problem with the extension.

Also, tons of people have come in on business and have applied for work visas which have been granted.
