living in Hong Kong on tourist visa while job searching

I am moving to Hong Kong to be with my boyfriend. While looking for a job, I would be on a tourist visa which allows my stay 2 weeks each time, multiple entry for 2 years. I understand I need to get out of Hong Kong every two weeks, but my question is can I just go to Shenzhen have lunch and come back on the same day?

Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!!

I think there's a maxim number of times that you can go out and come back (3 times). After doing so, the Immigration officer will give you a couple of days to leave HK. It might be better getting a VISA for a longer stay from the country where you are coming from. This is still cheaper compared to going back and forth to China. The China VISA cost HKD$150 each time, unless you get a 6 month VISA..

I have Chinese passport and US green card. Maybe there should be other kind of visa I should get instead of this one?

How's the job market in Hong Kong? Are people hiring?

What kind of job you are looking for? And what qualification you have??
For the 2-week visa, I believe you can go to the immigration to extend it...but I might be wrong...
I moved here with my husband so he sponsored me...thats why i got the 2-yr visa each time...and if i stay in Hk more than 2-yr, i can just extend it while i'm in HK, dun have to go out of HK...
So I'm not sure if your boyfriend's company can sponsor you....
I just know that my husband could also ask an agency to work on my parents' visa...but it's costly...like HKG 5,000 each...but its for a 1-yr visa....I think its worth it because as long as you get a 1-yr visa...there is no problem for you to extend it the next time
Hope this helps

living in Hong Kong on tourist visa while job searching

Hi NewYork, I'm new to this site but I'm pretty much in the same boat as you are. I assume you are from NYC due to your user id. Well, I'm not sure why you have to leave the HK every two weeks regarding your passport problems. But if you are planning to go to HK job hunting then you better prepare a list of recruiters that you want to meet when you get there, so they can help you with your job search. I'm planning to go in October myself to look for job and I hope my Finance background and language skills can help me there. I'm not sure how your Chinese are and what's your job experience but it's pretty to get an employment visa sponsor in HK these days from what I heard. So anyone who has better info for us about job searching will be greatly appreciated.
