Another MPF question

Hi,

If one decides to leave permanently and claims their MPF , is there a time span, as when they can come back to work in HK again? I don't want to lose my HKID either.

Also if, have been without a job for a year and have paid the last tax payment for 2007-2008, would one still need the release letter from inland revenue?

Lastly, can I still make monthly card payments from overseas or will I have to pay up before I leave?

Thanks

Not that I'm aware of, but you can only "leave permanently" once. If you come back, the money you pay into MPF then will stay there until you retire.

Assuming you are on an Employment Visa, then when your visa expires your HKID becomes just a souvenir (your Visa is the thing that gives you permission to reside in HK; you would no longer be a HK Resident and therefore, for example, need to enter and exit HK through the visitors' immigration using your passport). However, if you later return with a new resident Visa then as I understand it your HKID will be reactivated with the same number.

Yes, I believe so.

You mean a credit card? Then that's a matter for you to discuss with the card issuer. But I see no reason why not. It's a very expensive way to borrow money though.

Thanks PDLM!

yes, its credit cards, which I have not used in ages, just paying back the minimum monthly to hopefully clear it, however never seems to get there!!

I have heard that someone was able to take out their MPF saying they needed for own use and still staying in HK! Could this be possible or anyone heard anything similar?
