I still have my old HK ID card issued when i was living there in 94, its not the PR type. Is it of any use or give me any entitlements ?

Thats what i thought. My wifes a PR so I guess its not that big a deal in the end.

Well, the fact that your wife is a PR might NOT qualify you as a PR.
it may be advantage for you to apply for residence in HK only.
