| Identity Card and work I am here on a dependant visa. Unfortunately my husband who is already working in HK applied for this visa when his passport only had 3 months left to run. I went to immigration and they said my visa needed at least 180 days. Mine had only 90 days therefore I was told he has to extend his visa, then I can extend mine, THEN I can apply for my Identity Card. Does this effect the process of finding a job? I know if a company is willing to hire me then I will need them to sponsor me to get my work visa - but what happens if I go to an interview without having an Identity Card? Does it matter that I may not have one? Thank you! |

| Any competant HR person or hiring manager will be able to understand that an ID card is not as important as the type of visa you have. You can easily explain this situation to them. OR, wait till you get your visa extended. You can apply for your ID card the day you get your new Visa and walk away with the paper (temporary ID) card within hours. The paper ID card is acceptable. |
