dental implants

Hi HK people,

currently still in Europe, I will move to HK in August for a few years' period. One of my teeth got pulled lately and now it's time for prosthesis. What's the "normal" cost (remuneration, material costs, etc.) to expect for a dental implant? Is there anyone who has had recent and local experience with dental implants - and maybe even a good recommendation when it comes to a qualified dentist or oral surgeon?

Thanks a lot!

idea?

Hi Stan,

why don't you try calling the dental association in hk? I'm sure they will have a list of dentists who can help you out.

FWIW, 2 months after arriving in HK, I went to a dentist complaining of a toothache. I went to American dental Group at the advice of friends, because supposedly they are quite good, serve the American embassy etc. Well, 3 root canals later, they decide I need to have the tooth pulled and replaced with an implant at the cost of US$7000!!! I don't know if this is normal or not, but this one tooth has already cost me up to $10,000 so I feel like I've gotten reamed. Do it before coming out here, my opinion.

>> cost of US$7000!!!

The price of going to those who serve the US consulate.

Dental treatment can be expensive here.

We use Dr Irma Shum at Gordon Chung Chui & Associates. Nothing fancy.. good equipment and qualified staff.
