I have noticed when looking at estate agents web sites that all the coome they show is already empty. Some even say that the landlord will re-varnish floors etc before a tennant moves in. Am I right in saying there is a lot of empty properties in HK and that it should be easy to negotiate on rent? or is this just because there is a very high turnover and they all use the original photos again and again ??
My husband and I are considering buying a flat and then renting it out when we move but if it is common for apartments to stay empty then this would not be cost effective.

Flats in HK tend to be let out unfurnished (for locals) partly because it is the custom and partly becuase the landlord is supposed to look after/maintain what's left behind.

We had very limited choice when we were renting because we wanted fully furnished flats. We got a really beautiful one once just becuase the landlord and his family had to move to another location for their kid's education.
