flying insects in Spring/Summer

One thing that I have a hard time to get used in Sydney is those "flies" in Spring/Summer. Bondi is a great beach. It will be tough to walk along the beach without waving hands to fend off the flies. How about those pretty girls with pimple-like flying covering their backs lying on the beach as if there is nothing happening.

Well, Sydney is a great city, quiet and peaceful. I do enjoy the Melbourne Cup Days though.

Wink sydney by a small margin but

depends on phase in your life ... HK great up to 40 i reckon, then you'll want some peace, clean air etc. depends also on purpose to come here and what industry you'll be in ...
party scene easier in hk, takes awhile to integrate in sydney..dead in melb. hk most international and diverse...
this is coming from some1 whi grew up in asia till age of 10, spent next 15 in melb, 5 in sydney and 3 mths in HK ..
agree with most of hachez comments ..except weather in melb absolutly sux. Seasonal changes are cool but melb weather way too volatile...
for those who's spent more than just a holiday in sydney, am sure you miss the chill out coolness of eastn suburbs (paddo etc) with great food, properties etc ... wealth not as in your face as hk.
Food: sydney and melb in front of HK for freshness. Chinese food in oz also v good in my view.
also what abt cost of living? a 2br high rise, 1 carspace, water views, 10 mins from city costs $400/week, or 40x a normal workday lunch. In HK, i suggest thats closer to 80x a lunch (say hk$25k rent and hk$50 lunch!
overall, syd by a small margin, but hey only been here 3 mths ...so not a fair comparison ...

Sorry, but I couldn't resist the obvious play in the name ...."choi kin"

Just be sure he doesn't "choi keen" you when you visit him again....

I choose Sydney. I, on the other hand, think Hong Kong is over-rated. Maybe something to do with the fact that I don't like clubbing and the fact that I mix very much with the locals.

I think Hong Kong is a great place for experience and money. The only downsides are pollution and space. Once I settle, wouldn't want to live in Sydney anyway, too expensive and dirty. Personally prefer Brisbane when I am older, lovely weather and great place. I am from Adelaide as well!
