| i only knew a western couple living there before and they pretty much liked it. beside of that our company was once making some reasearch for providing housing allowance. so what i have seen there, was that the secondary and third bedrooms are quite small in comparison to other estates. it may be fine for children or as home office room. but if you have guests, then it might even be difficult to fit a bed inside a full size adult bed (longer than 1.8m). furthermore their facilities like the gym is quite modern, but their pool gets almost no sun (only in the morning time).
although tierra verde is directly above the shopping mall connected to the mtr station, you still have to walk a bit on the 'roof top' of the shopping mall, but only a small part of the way to the elevators down to the mall is covered to protect you from rain. it might still be that you have a longer way to walk depending on the block you are living in (maybe up to 50 metres). from someone living in carribean cost (another mtr managed estate), i know that the residents got a discount card for starbucks. it might be that this applies to tierre verde residents as well.

what you could consider as alternative is villa esplanada, which is just maybe 100 metres away from the mall, but the complete way for around 5 blocks is covered for rainy days. the monthly rent per sqft. is a bit cheaper than in tierra verde, which means that you can get either a cheaper flat for the same size or a larger flat for the same price. the secondary and third bedrooms can fit beds with 2m length as well. their pool is much nicer with sun all the day and feature an indoor pool as well. but their security guards suck, as they seem to be totally incapable to remember residents and are strictly asking for resident cards etc., while the security guards in tierra verde seem to be friendlier.
in terms of transportation, tsing yi is really great. with the tung chung line you can be in central in just around 15 minutes. that's much faster than even some people living on HKG island without mtr connection and commuting with a bus in rush hours. |
