Gohome.com is recommended many times in these forums as a good place to start when searching for rentals. I just looked at the page to sign up on it and it requires a HKID number.
How do people get on renting an apartment before getting their HKID? I will be looking for a place about a month before I move to HK, how easy is this going to be without my HKID? Is it required in order to secure a rental? Any thoughts???

You're not allowed to take up residence in HK without an ID card, according to the Immigration Department. This means entering into any lease agreement with a landlord. Your best approach is to enter into short-term rental (cash in advance) or serviced apartment. The standard lease document used has provision for I.D. card numbers and is legally required.
