Well, I'm getting mine done tomorrow at Quality.

Fingers crossed!

If you don't hear from me it may be that my eyes are still recovering (?)

My laser surgery at Quality Healthcare Centre, Central

Hey everyone,

I'm happy to report that it all went fine The actual laser part only took about 75 seconds per eye but the whole process on the day took just under 4 hours (this involved various further tests and measurements, putting eye drops in the eyes and waiting around, etc).

After the operation things were a bit blurry and they give you a sleeping pill for you to take a nap when you get home. I took it easy that night but the next morning I believe I work up with 20/20 vision, according to my eye test the next day! I was also able to resume a lot of activities and go out pretty quickly.

After spending a good deal of my life wearing contacts and glasses and being pretty seriously short sighted (about -8.00) I have to say it is a great improvement this is in terms of day to day life/hassles etc and wish a did it earlier. As others have mentioned the cost at quality is also quite cheap I think at only 11,800 (8,000 off) with my HSBC credit card. Of course, the process is not without risk though and apparently things cld maybe change further down the track.

Feel free to PM me or call the centre (I think someone posted the phone number earlier) if you have other q's!

M

Great news Muse. Glad it went OK. Did they "cut the flap" using the laser or the knife method?

Don,

According to the centre's brochure, the corneal tissue is cut with a corneal cutting machine, the microkeratome, before Excimer laser is applied. I didn't feel pain, just a bit of discomfort, during this (although I could hear it and smell slight burning, which they warned about!)

I'm ok.. according to my follow up appointment, I still have 20/20 vision.

However, my eyes get dry/irritated at times - however, they also tended to be dry pre-surgery and I think I am quite prone to hay fever/allergies. I just carry eye drops with me.
