Question Shipping recommendation from USA to HK

Hi, anyone moved from USA to HK? I need some shipping co recommendation for my move. There are thousands in US but don't know which one is prominent and trustworthy. My co is paying for the relocation so cost is not a factor as long as professional service is provided. I have minimal amt of stuff to ship, less than 1000lb for sure, there's not enough space in HK to accommodate all of my stuff anyway....

on a second note, do I need to pay duty for shipping cases of wine to HK? -thanks!

Where are you moving from? We're using Chipman International (who partners with another company on the Hong Kong side; I can't remember the name but it's one that I've see on this forum). I think Chipman is just on the west coast of the states however. Nike uses them for all their relocations.

If you google them, they come right up.

Thank you for your recommendation, and yes, I am moving from the west coast.

I have moved stuff from HK to the US & Back (Texas) and used Santa Fe. They did a great job.

We used Interdean Interconnex on our move from CA to HK last year, they were pretty good, we had 4-5 packers pack our stuff, about a 1 1/2 day process, then a crew of 4-5 people did the unpacking here in HK, about a 5 hour process. Overall we had a good experience with them. Good Luck!

Hello,

We are looking for a reliable company with reasonable rates to move our stuff from the Washington DC area to HKG. Almost everything is already boxed and ready to go. The whole lot fills a 20ft container.

Any recomendations?

Also what are the import duties/precedures for when the container arrives in HKG?

If you want a reliable company with a certain degree of guarantee, go to www.fidi.com and/or www.fidi-faim.com.
FIDI is not a moving company but the only moving association whose members are audited regularly by Ernst & Young. You can find out more about the members and the quality system they use by going to those websites and if you like what you see, you can also look up a company in your area.

Wine

Saboten, the company I used would not ship any alcohol, so you might want to ask around to see who would ship it. The spirits we did not use, we put in our luggage when we flew to HK.

very surprised a moving company would not ship wine to HK and am quite certain all the FIDI companies would. It's fairly common for people to include wine & spirits in their shipments. The only time it's a difficulty is when trying to get it into places that list alcohol as a "prohibited" or "restricted" import item.
FYI: I'm in the moving industry so if you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Promise not to plug my own company! Just seen too many moving nightmares (my own and those of friends) and am happy to help.
