| | | contact lens question? Hubby and I are moving from Aus to HK mid July.
Both wear lenses and of course will exhaust our rebate threshold under private cover in Aus before leaving. Are ordinary soft lenses lenses "relatively speaking" cheaper or more expensive in HK than Aus???? Have private health care incorporated into contract but only a 1/2 page synopsis so can't really comment on level of cover......sorry a bit vague!
Cheers

| | | I have never seen health insurance that covered contact lenses (wouldn't that count as a pre-existing condition?), but maybe they exist. It's nice to know that you get something back in Australia for those exhorbitant taxes you pay.
The only contact lenses I can give you a price point for in HK are J&J Acuvue daily disposables, for which I pay about HK$10 per day (i.e. $5 per lens) including all the check-ups, tests, etc. that I might want.

| | | I also used be weekly lenses, but because of pollution, my eyes didn t support them. I thought it is because I was tired, but it happened to many other lens users in HK.
now i have to use one day lenses and it is 370HKD for two boxes

| | | I have been using monthly dispoable ones... but I am curious to know how effective are the daily ones or the biweekly?
Nowadays I sometimes get a blur towards the end of the day when I have been wearing them throughout the day ..

| | | I get mine from The Optical Shop in Central, by the big pedestrian crossing diagonally opposite Marks & Spencer (and round the corner from the HSBC). I know they are not necessarily the cheapest, but the service is very good, and it is convenient. | |
