Apartment search in specific buildings

Hello everyone

I might be making the move to HK from London in a couple of months time and am very excited.

I was wondering if in their search for accommodation some people target specific buildings they like the look of and try and find vacancies in those and what the best way to go about it was?

Do these buildings have offices you can contact or is it all through lettings agents and luck of the draw?

Thanks for your help
David

you will have to find an agency in the area of the building as most owners if they want to rent it out will contact them.

you could checkout [url=http://www.gohome.com.hk]ĘŻ

I used the database *) of the Centaline agency to inform me about the buildings in the area and rental prices before talking to the agents but you don't have to go through them only, most estates will have offices of several agents near to them, just walk in and tell them what you are looking for.

*) Click English and then 'More information' under Property Listings (scroll down on the left). You can search by price, size and age of the building and many have links to a site with more information including floorplans and pictures.

Centaline - [url=http://www.centanet.com/icms/template?series=211]

This website is good, they have english too.

On the other hand http://www.midland.com.hk/eng/
is more expensive for rent and buy for the same propetry so check out centaline.

The other website like gohome and hkhomes and other english based propetry development company is no good.

I had a place to sell and place my ad in hkhome, go home, english based propetry development company and centaline midland. As i expected midland and centaline and pleantly of people come to see my place and also more people has offers, the other three companines i said all rubbish, not much people came at all and no one has offers.

For local people. when they want to buy or rent they will go to centaline and midland and they won't really go to gohome, hkhomes and other english based propetries. I am not only taking cheap propetries but also propetires like in the peak costing $300,000 monthly rent, so go to centaline as they info is better in renting and buying wise ..

The rental prices for the same property are the same usually; when I was apartment hunting I went to several agents and some places were proposed by different agents, for the same price.

As I said, use the website(s) to inform yourself, then go and check the place out. After that you can talk about the rent and negotiate.
