Buying property

Hello,

We are currently planning to move to Hong Kong in July and one of our thoughts is to buy a small house in Sai Kung. Before we do this though we have to sell our current house.

Is it simple enough for foreigners to get home loans? At first we will be bringing in about HK$700'000.00 on a single salary. We would have about HK$500'000.00 to use for a deposit and closing fees.

How much would we be able to qualify for +/-?
And what is the % amount required as a deposit for foreign buyers?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Stargirl

No I haven't as yet found anything out. We are flying into HKG next week and will start our house hunt in the weeks to follow.

Perhaps the answers to my questions are really obvious and therefore these questions haven't been answered.

Please let me know if you get any closer.

Cheers

I thought that you needed a HK ID card before you can open bank accounts / mortgages etc?
