Visa question

Hi,
basically Im looking at moving to HK for a change of scenery from Taiwan and also plan to continue studying Chinese there. Long story made short, due to the costs I wont be studying full time or at an accredited school that can help me apply for a visa, so I would be only part time studying chinese. I understand I would only be on a visitor visa and some people have said that after a few times of leaving/coming back and getting a new visitor visa, they were asked why they were staying so long in HK. Would it help that I can at least show I am attending chinese class, even though it isnt full time/at a government approved visa school etc? I also ask this question as my girl friend who is Taiwanese would come with me. I am Australian. I would be looking at staying in HK for at least a year and most likely much longer. Any help would be appreciate thanks.
