where to live

Hi,

My fiance works in Sheung Shui and so we decided to live in a village house in Tai Po. It's got 3 bedrooms, is big for HK standards and only costs us $4,000 a month. There are cheaper flats than ours here too. There is a fairly big expat community in Tai Po. If you want any more info just PM me.

Where to live

I agree that Tai Po is a great place to live. Also Sha Tin is another consideration. A little further away from Sheung Shui but closer to the city, about 30-45 mins on train.

There are good ex-pat communities in both places and both served well by train (KCR) and bus.

Smile Where to live in NT

I live in the Tai Wai area and there are several ex-pats in the apartments I'm in. Also there seem to be quite a few others in the local area. One of the problems here is that ex-pats seems to turn away when they see you here! They are fine when I turn round and say hello, then you can't stop them talking!

I've also noticed quite a few ex-pats around the New Town Plaza areas, and Grand Central Plaza areas. Speaking with an Englsih guy who runs a stall in Seiyu, he was telling me he lived directly above New Town Plaza and that there were a few ex-pats there as well. Maybe we should get some events going in the area. Another friend of mine has just moved back to the UK from Shatin Heights.

I think if you could count the ex-pats in Sha Tin it would be surprising just how many there are. I haven't seen many though around the North (City One) area.

Anyone up for some events in the area?

JK
