Change of Job (already having HK Work permit)

Hi,

I am already having an employment permit to work in HK till Feb 2006. If I have to change a job in HK itself, does my new employer need to apply for a new visa or transfer my existing visa. Or I just change the jobs as I already have a work permit.

Regards,
V

You can't transfer your working visa. Your new employer has to apply again for a new visa.

I just went thru the process your speaking of. And yes, your new employer will have to submit ALL the paperwork that your 1st employer submiitted (what a hassle!). If approved, you won't actually get a new visa. You will still work under your old visa for the new employer. (This is the extent of the 'transfer').

Also, your old employer must contact immigration when you terminate to tell them you no longer work for them.

Isn't it a lot easier for Indian nationals?
I was told by an Indian that the HK government is welcoming Indian immigrants and workers to HK these days unlike the past.

So, how long does the transferring process take?
