salaries - again.. hi, another salary question I'm afraid! Have been offered a job with a "rent free zone" allowance of $40K per month. Do most employers pay a fixed amount with the salary, or do they only pay what your rent actually is? ie, if you rented a flat for 20k, would you pocket the rest? In addition, what is the "hypotax" people keep refering to? thanks

Hypo Tax: http://www.taxationweb.co.uk/forum/discuss.php?id=6089 You should check if the contract says "up to $40K" or "40K".

Salaries - again Hi , My company pays an accommodation allowance up to 50k . If I don't use the whole allowance , say only 40 k , the company pays me 70% of the remaining 10k allowance in cash . You should chek the fine print to see if your company does something similar , if not then use the whole allowance :-) 'Hypotax' stands for Hypothetical Tax . Its basically the tax you would normally pay in your home country if you hypothetically were'nt on assignment .
