Prepaid Internet / Internet Cards

Im just wondering, is there such as thing as prepaid internet cards in HK? This could be a really great for those requiring short term internet access. Everything prepaid is really big where I come from and would like to know if I can still enjoy these little conviniences if ever I relocate.

Regards.

Baron is an unknown quantity at this point.
I'm not sure, but i haven't seen it available anywhere here. I think most people who don't have it on at home just go to an internet cafe. You can always just go to Pacific coffee and use the net for free!

Wireless with dial up thrown in. A bit expensive when compared to the plans we've seen in Phillipines / Thailand etc.

Internet access is free at the Central Library near Victoria Park in CWB. There are about 500 computers - you can either book in advance (but you have to be a member) or just turn up and try your luck. Avoid weekends and there are usually computers available.

Thanks! Back here we've got almost everything in prepaid. Phone Service, Wireless and Dial-up internet access, Satallite Cable TV service, Mobile Phone service, Overseas calling service and etc. Companies here wanna see the money first since not everyone has good credit. Hehehe. But its very convenient, no applications, just buy the card. However the free internet is definitely MORE convenient.

thanks for the netvigator link!

Prepaid Internet cards?

Way back in dim & distant past - about 4 years or more ago, I got a FREE access card from HKNet which allowed me 100 hours access. This was after becoming a subscriber to their 'dial-up' service. There was no oftion of ADSL then.

Since which time I have never seen any other Hong Kong ISP offer such a deal. [Not that it was *that* much use as I already had access with my dial-up account].

I believe that pre-paid cards are / or WERE available in Bangkok.

Prepayment for Internet never seemed to catch on here.

However, with a Wi-Fi equipped Laptop, it can sometimes be quite easy to "Piggy-back" in someone else's Wi-Fi system in residential flats. I can often see upwards of half a dozen where I live - and many of them are totally un-encrypted too ---- Dead easy to "hitch-hike" a free ride into Internet if I so desired.
